- Babbo
simply divine.... perhaps the best Italian restaurant in New York, but with none of the pretension or formality that you find at other top restaurants. an absolute must!
- Cru
mmmm such fresh seafood! and a very refined atmosphere, which can be a nice break from other bustling fisheries.
- Da Silvano
i LOVE this restaurant! it's been around for a long time, but it hasn't lost any of its popularity or charm. great Italian food and classic West Village location.
- Gotham
this large restaurant has delicious New American food (that often arrives in towers), and a very cosmopolitan atmosphere. it's not formal, but it's also a place that you can dress up or bring business partners. always a safe bet
- ’ino
tiny restaurant with wonderful panini and Italian wines. perfect for a quick bite or casual date, cozy in the winter and airy in summer.
- Mas (farmhouse)
scrumptious food that you would expect in a fancy restaurant, except that the atmosphere here is neither formal nor stuffy. it's also not too loud, so a great place for a date
- OTTO Enoteca
owned by Mario Batali (who also owns Babbo), but completely different in style. this large, bustling restaurants has great pizzas and pastas for dirt-cheap prizes and a tremendous selection of wines. and the energy is amazing!
- Pearl Oyster Bar
fabulous seafood! but the small restaurant doesn't take reservations, so there is always always a line.
- Perry St.
one of Jean-Georges Vongerichten's restaurants. not as kitschy as some of his others, Perry St. is refined, delicious, very chic...
- The Spotted Pig
great gastro-pub that feels completely authentic. but again, no reservations means that there is always a wait. try the gnudi!
