Breath
By: Raphael |
The sculpture of late light in winter
deepens the world. Its cold optics gleam off
stanchions and sills and cornerstones,
and carve shadows of billows into the naked planes.
White smoke fumes in the muted air,
sturdily, steadily, stubborn to the cold,
and a runnynosekid watches from its cowl,
gloved and vertical, with easy breaths.
